Troubleshooting
Before You Call Us
Would
you like the ease of troubleshooting your oil-fired burner
before calling us? Try these steps first to save yourself
a call or a visit by our service technician.
1.
Are you out of fuel?
Check the gauge on top of your oil tank. If your tank is
slightly out of level and reads below 1/8th on the gauge,
you may be out.
2.
Is there power to your system?
Unlike some LP gas units which may not need an electrical
supply, oil burners need electricity. A breaker may have
tripped preventing the unit from firing. It is recommended
that your furnace/boiler be on its own breaker to prevent
heavy usage from other appliances tripping the breaker.
3.
If you have oil in the tank and feel confident electricity
is flowing to the unit, have you checked to see if the emergency
burner switch is on?
That's the red switch/plate assembly which may be located
at the top of your cellar stairs or somewhere near the utility
area where your boiler is located. These don't trip off
automatically like an electrical breaker but can be inadvertently
turned off if someone thinks it's a light switch since they
appear the same except as to color.

4. Have you tried pressing the oil burner reset button (only
one time!!)?If
you're not sure where the burner button is, look at the
photo to get an idea of what the button generally looks
like and where it can be found.
5.
If all of the above fails, it is recommended that you call
our service department to schedule a visit by a technician.
